Rejuran vs PDRN vs Exosomes: Which? | Relieve Clinic Seoul

Rejuran vs PDRN vs exosomes — three unlabeled vials representing the categories

Rejuran vs PDRN is a comparison within one family: Rejuran is a branded polynucleotide injection, and generic PDRN is the same salmon-derived family with shorter fragments.

Exosomes are a different category altogether — signalling vesicles that, in our clinic, are applied topically after a laser or needling pass rather than injected. Three different things, often sold under one heading.

If you have been reading Korean clinic menus in a second language, you have probably seen all three words used as though they were interchangeable.

They are not, and the differences change what each one is good for. By the end of this piece you will be able to match a concern to a category instead of to a marketing term.

A note on who is writing. Relieve Clinic sits one minute from Apgujeong Station, and Dr. Park Tae-oh runs consultations himself — the doctor who assesses you is the doctor who treats you, with no sales consultant in between.

We work with all three of these categories, which is why this comparison describes how they are actually used rather than which one we would rather sell.

Terms first: Rejuran is a branded PN product

Rejuran is a product name, not a treatment category.

The category is polynucleotide, usually shortened to PN. It comes in several presentations: Classic Healer, which is PN alone and is the sharpest on injection; HB+, which adds hyaluronic acid and lidocaine to the same PN base and is easier to sit through; and Rejuran I, the periorbital formula supplied as a 2cc syringe.

Comfort is where the presentations diverge most sharply, and it is worth asking about before you agree to a course.

Classic Healer without lidocaine is a different afternoon from HB+ with it. Beyond the formulation, the variable that changes a polynucleotide session most is how long topical anaesthetic is left to work: a rushed schedule allows ten minutes, our protocol allows 30 to 50, and a vibration device runs alongside the injection. Same product, very different hour.

PN and PDRN: the same family, different fragment lengths

Both originate in purified salmon DNA. PN chains are longer; PDRN — polydeoxyribonucleotide — is the shorter-fragment relative. In practice the two are discussed together because they share a raw material and a general mode of action: no heat, an anti-inflammatory character, and a response driven by the skin’s own repair machinery rather than by added volume.

The family is not new. PDRN was used in wound healing long before anyone put it in an aesthetic syringe, and the material used in Rejuran is produced by PharmaResearch under Korean MFDS regulation, and a 2026 systematic review of randomised trials covers the category in skin rejuvenation and scar prevention (PubMed 42572627). That regulatory and clinical history is the main practical difference between this family and the newer category further down the page.

Where generic PDRN fits in Korea

Walk down a Gangnam street and you will see PDRN injection advertised at a lower number than Rejuran. Sometimes that reflects a genuinely different specification; sometimes it reflects a smaller volume or a shorter session.

The word itself tells you the family, not the product, the concentration or the protocol, so a price comparison between “PDRN” and “Rejuran” is a comparison between a category and a brand. Rejuran vs PDRN is therefore a question of specification and volume rather than of which word is on the poster.

If you want the detail on that side of the market, our piece on salmon DNA PDRN injections in Korea covers benefits and how it is costed.

One further caution on generic PDRN pricing: an unusually low figure sometimes reflects a smaller syringe rather than a cheaper product, and sometimes it is the per-session figure inside a package rather than a walk-in price. Ask which of the two you are being shown, and ask how many cc are in it. Those two questions resolve most of the apparent spread between clinics.

That covers one family. The third name on most menus works on a completely different principle.

Exosomes: what they are and how they are actually applied

Exosomes are nanoscale vesicles released by cells, carrying signalling cargo — proteins, lipids, genetic messengers — from one cell to another.

The aesthetic interest is in that cargo: a package of instructions rather than a structural material.

How they reach the skin matters, and this is where most articles go wrong. In our practice exosomes are applied topically after a treatment that has opened microchannels — a laser pass or RF microneedling — rather than injected into the dermis.

The channels do the delivery work. You will most often see the combination written as a Potenza or laser session with exosomes added at the end, which is exactly what it is: a finishing step layered onto a device treatment, not a standalone injection appointment.

Regulatory status for exosome products differs by country, and the US FDA has published a public notification on exosome products that is worth reading if you are comparing what is available at home with what is available here. Different jurisdictions have drawn different lines.

What the evidence supports for each, stated plainly

Three categories, three different positions on the maturity curve, described neutrally.

  • Polynucleotide (Rejuran): the most established of the three in Korean aesthetic practice, with a regulated manufacturer, defined formulations and a treatment protocol that has been refined over years of routine use.
  • Generic PDRN: the same raw material family with a long history in wound care; specifications vary widely between suppliers, so the product matters more than the category label.
  • Exosomes: a newer category where the evidence base is still accumulating, used here as an adjunct to device treatments and chosen for that role rather than as a replacement for an injectable course.

💡 Collagen stimulators belong in this decision too: Juvelook versus exosomes in Korea covers that angle.

Rejuran vs PDRN vs exosomes at a glance

No prices appear in this table by design.

Quotes depend on formulation, volume, method and whether you are buying one session or a course, so a number without those four attached would tell you nothing useful.

Three column comparison of polynucleotide, PDRN and exosome delivery methods

There is a sequencing question people rarely ask. Because polynucleotide is injected and exosomes arrive through channels made by a device, the two do not compete for the same appointment slot — they compete for the same weeks in your calendar.

A visitor with five days in Seoul usually has to pick a lane rather than run both, and which lane depends on whether the target is the skin surface or a structural problem underneath it.

Which one for which concern

Match the mechanism to the problem and the choice usually makes itself.

For overall skin quality — texture, crepiness, a dull thinned look, the neck, the eye area — a polynucleotide course is the straightforward answer, typically three to four sessions two to four weeks apart with the effect holding six to twelve months.

For melasma-prone or rosacea-prone skin the same category is attractive for a specific reason: it introduces no heat, so it does not provoke the stimulus those conditions react to.

For acne scarring or pore structure, the primary work is done by a device — RF microneedling with the depth mapped zone by zone — and exosomes come in afterwards as part of the recovery and finishing phase.

For a broader map of the whole injectable shelf, our guide to Korean skin booster types puts each one in its place, and exosome treatment in Korea goes further into the third category.

One clinic-specific detail worth knowing: we record a 3D skin analysis at consultation, so when you come back after a session the comparison is made against a measurement of the same zone rather than against anyone’s memory.

With categories this close together, that is often the only way to tell which one did the work.

Medical disclaimer: the categories above behave differently in different skin, results vary between individuals, and none of this replaces an in-person consultation with a licensed doctor who can examine you and take a history.

Is Rejuran the same as PDRN?

They belong to the same salmon-derived family. Rejuran is a branded polynucleotide product with longer fragments, while PDRN describes shorter fragments and is a category rather than a single product.

Are exosomes injected in Korea?

In our clinic they are applied to the skin after a laser or RF microneedling pass has opened microchannels, so they arrive as a finishing step on a device treatment rather than as a separate injection.

Can I have polynucleotide and exosomes in the same plan?

Often yes, because they sit at different points in a plan. Sequencing and spacing depend on your skin and your schedule and should be decided at consultation.
