How Many Potenza Sessions Are Needed? | Relieve Clinic Seoul

How many Potenza sessions — RF microneedling course planning at a Seoul clinic

How many Potenza sessions you need depends on the target: three to four for pores and texture, four to six for acne scars, spaced four to six weeks apart either way.

The number is set by what you are treating, not by a package, and the depth chosen at each visit matters as much as the count.

Anyone researching this from abroad has a second question hiding behind the first one, which is how much of that course can be done during a trip that lasts nine days.

We will get to that, and to what a three-session course realistically changes.

The session counts below come from one clinic’s own protocol. Relieve Clinic sits one minute from Exit 3 of Apgujeong Station in Seoul, and our working philosophy is that beauty is perfected in comfort.

Dr. Park Tae-oh consults and treats one-to-one; we book only two or three patients an hour precisely so that the depth mapping described below can be done slowly.

Potenza sessions are counted by goal, not by a fixed number

Radiofrequency microneedling does not have one dose.

The needles are placed at a depth chosen for the target, and the energy is chosen for the tissue at that depth, so “how many Potenza sessions” is really a question about what the dermis is being asked to rebuild.

Those ranges are starting points reviewed at each visit, not a contract signed on day one.

Potenza for pores and texture: three to four

Pore appearance and rough texture are the fastest responders, because both are largely about the upper dermis tightening around the follicular openings.

Visible change at two to four weeks is common, and it usually arrives before the course is finished, which is a pleasant way round for a treatment plan to behave.

Three sessions is a reasonable commitment for texture alone. A fourth is added when the skin is thick, oily and stubborn, which is a description rather than a criticism.

Acne scars: four to six, and the reason for the extra visits

Scarred tissue is not simply rough skin. It is tissue that was lost, sometimes anchored down by bands underneath, and rebuilding volume from the base of a depression takes more passes than smoothing a surface does. Hence four to six.

There is a second reason. Scar work is layered work: the Potenza course often runs alongside a collagen-stimulating booster — our signature pairing is Potenza with Juvelook, where the RF opens micro-channels and the PDLLA and HA booster strengthens the remodelling reaction — and where ice pick scars are present, TCA CROSS or punch excision is handled separately.

That layering is set out in full in our guide to acne scar treatment in Korea.

How the tips change the plan

Searches for “Potenza N tip vs I tip” turn up constantly, and the useful answer is not a specification sheet. Tip selection follows skin thickness and the depth the target sits at.

That principle decides more than any tip name does, and a clinic that cannot explain its depth logic is the one to be wary of.

  • Tiger Tip: works at two depths in one pass. Suited to thicker areas and to deeper acne scarring.
  • CP “Pumping” Tip: pushes boosters such as PDRN or Juvelook into the dermis during the treatment, which keeps surface disruption and downtime to a minimum.
  • Thin zones — forehead, jawline: shallower depth and lower energy, regardless of what is being used elsewhere on the same face.
  • Thicker zones — cheeks: deeper placement, because the target sits further down.

Per-area depth mapping is the whole craft.

It also explains why one face can need two different approaches in a single sitting, and why the session total is discussed after the skin has been examined rather than quoted over email.

The platform itself gives the operator that room. Cynosure’s Potenza system supports both monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency, adjustable needle depth, and delivery of fluid through the channels during a pass — which is why a single device can serve a shallow pore protocol and a deep scar protocol without either being a compromise.

💡 Comfort is the other half of the booking question: whether Potenza treatment is painful in Korea sets out the numbing protocol behind these sessions.

Spacing, and what happens if you stretch it

Four to six weeks is the interval. It exists because collagen synthesis after a controlled injury runs on its own clock, and a second pass delivered too early lands on tissue still busy with the first.

Stretching the interval is the more common scenario for anyone flying in and out, and it is less damaging than people fear.

A gap of ten or twelve weeks between sessions does not erase what the previous session built; it simply lengthens the calendar. What you lose is momentum, not the work. Sessions crammed two weeks apart to fit a holiday are the actual problem, and we would rather reschedule than compress.

Because Potenza delivers radiofrequency through needles instead of light through the skin surface, it is generally considered suitable across Fitzpatrick I to VI when settings are calibrated properly — worth knowing if you have previously been told to avoid resurfacing because of your skin tone.

How long the effect holds afterwards is covered in how long Potenza lasts.

Booking sequence matters more than most people expect. If your trip is short, the sensible structure is to take the consultation and the first session early in the visit rather than on the last afternoon, which leaves room to review how the skin responded before you fly.

Redness after a pass usually settles within a day or two, so a session placed near the start of a nine-day trip rarely costs you anything socially, whereas one squeezed in the night before a flight does.

Potenza for the neck and body

Neck skin is thinner and moves constantly, so depth settings are conservative and progress is slower than on a cheek.

It is planned as its own course rather than tacked onto a facial session for free, and the same four-to-six-week spacing applies.

Body areas follow the same logic with a different clock: larger surfaces, thicker skin in some places, and a longer wait before texture shifts. What it costs to plan any of this is broken down in our note on Potenza treatment cost in Korea.

What three Potenza sessions realistically change

Here is the timeline rather than a promise. In the first two to four weeks after session one, surface texture and pore appearance typically soften first. By session two, that change has usually consolidated and the skin holds makeup differently.

By session three, texture improvement is generally established, and deeper scarring has started to move but is not finished — that part is still unfolding across three to six months, well after the last appointment.

Our 3D skin analysis system records the same areas at each visit, so the comparison between session one and session three is a measurement rather than a recollection.

That matters more than it sounds like it should, because skin you look at every morning changes too slowly for your own eyes to score fairly.

Individual results vary. Session counts, depths and intervals are set during consultation after an examination, and nothing written here replaces that.

One last practical point for visitors: after you fly home we can follow up remotely, including guidance for a practitioner continuing the course where you live. The plan does not have to end at the departure gate.

How many Potenza sessions are needed for pores?

Three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is the usual plan for pores and texture, with surface change often noticeable at two to four weeks.

What is the difference between the Potenza tips?

Tip choice follows skin thickness and the depth of the target. The Tiger Tip works at two depths for thicker areas and deeper scarring, while the CP Pumping Tip delivers boosters into the dermis with minimal surface disruption.

Can I do two Potenza sessions in one trip?

Only if the trip is long enough to respect a four-to-six-week interval. Compressing sessions into two weeks is not advised, and stretching the gap is the safer compromise.
