Juvelook Volume is a PDLLA collagen stimulator blended with hyaluronic acid and placed in scattered depots across a region.
Gouri is a liquid PCL stimulator that spreads as a thin layer rather than sitting as a bolus. Same goal, different material and different placement logic.
If you have been reading Korean clinic menus from abroad, the two names keep appearing side by side with almost identical descriptions, and neither page tells you which situation each one was built for.
That is the gap this guide closes: what the materials are, where a doctor puts them, how the timelines differ, and which face actually suits which.
Here at Relieve Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul, Dr. Park Tae-oh runs the consultation and the injection himself in a private room.
There are no sales managers between you and the person holding the syringe, and a 3D skin analysis record is taken first so that the volume decision is made on measured contour rather than on a menu preference.
Juvelook Volume vs Gouri: PDLLA with HA versus liquid PCL
Both products belong to the biostimulator category. Neither one fills a hollow on the day of injection the way a hyaluronic acid filler does. Both ask your own tissue to respond over weeks.
Juvelook Volume, from the Korean manufacturer VAIM, is built on poly-D,L-lactic acid — PDLLA — carried in a hyaluronic acid gel.
The HA is the vehicle and the early softness; the PDLLA microspheres are what the tissue reacts to. Gouri, marketed as the first injectable in liquid form of polycaprolactone, contains no microsphere carrier of that kind.
It is PCL delivered as a flowable material, which is why clinics describe it as coating a region instead of shaping a point.
Sculptra, the PLLA product most international readers already know, is the market reference point for this whole category. It is useful as a mental anchor, but do not assume the handling is transferable — the polymer and the dilution habits differ.
That difference in physical form is not a marketing detail. It decides the next question.
Where each one is placed on the face
A Juvelook Volume session tends to be regional and targeted. The doctor deposits small amounts across a zone that has thinned — the upper cheek, the temple hollow, the area in front of the ear — then massages so the depots sit evenly. You are treating a shape.
Gouri sessions read differently. Because the material flows, it is typically laid down over broader territory in a thin plane, and the language clinicians use is closer to resurfacing the whole panel than to rebuilding one hollow.
People who want overall firmness and a smoother light reflection across the cheek, rather than a rebuilt cheekbone, often end up here.
Depth matters as much as area. Thin skin over the temple and the jawline tolerates a shallower, lighter pass; the mid-cheek carries more.
Mapping that depth region by region is the part a menu cannot do for you, and it is the part we record on the 3D scan so that the second session can be compared against a measurement instead of a memory.
How fast each shows and how long it holds
Here is where expectations go wrong most often. A patient books a stimulator expecting filler behaviour, sees a modest change on day three as the carrier settles, and concludes it failed.
With Juvelook Volume the HA carrier gives a small immediate lift that recedes within roughly the first one to two weeks.
The real curve starts after that, as the collagen response builds across the following months. Gouri, without an HA carrier doing that early work, generally shows less on day one and asks you to wait for the tissue response instead.
Both are described as gradual and both fade gradually. Individual results vary with age, skin thickness, how much volume was lost to begin with and how many sessions were completed.
| Point of difference | Juvelook Volume | Gouri |
| Active material | PDLLA microspheres in hyaluronic acid | Polycaprolactone in liquid form |
| Physical behaviour | Depots that stay where placed | Flows and spreads as a layer |
| Typical intent | Rebuild a specific hollow or contour | Overall firmness across a panel |
| Day-one appearance | Slight carrier lift, then settles | Minimal immediate change |
| When change is judged | Months after the course, not days | Months after the course, not days |
| Course pattern | Repeat sessions spaced weeks apart | Repeat sessions spaced weeks apart |

Sessions and spacing for a Juvelook Volume or Gouri course
Neither product is a one-visit item. Both are planned as short courses with weeks between visits, because the point is to let one tissue response mature before adding the next stimulus.
Stacking sessions too close does not accelerate anything; it only removes your ability to judge what the previous session did.
- Plan the trip, not the appointment: if you are flying in, ask which sessions can be done in Seoul and which can be handled by a practitioner at home with remote guidance.
- Leave a settling window: keep the injection day a few days clear of a wedding, a shoot or a flight you cannot move.
- Ask about numbing time, not numbing product: thirty to fifty minutes under cream changes the experience far more than the brand of cream does.
- Check the box in front of you: our Open-in-Front policy means the sealed carton comes into the room, brand and expiry visible, and is opened while you watch.
- Book a review, not a rescue: a scheduled follow-up months later is how a stimulator is properly assessed.
What neither Juvelook Volume nor Gouri is for
Ask a stimulator to do a filler’s job and you will be disappointed twice — once at the two-week mark and again at the bill.
A sharply defined chin projection, a precise nose bridge, a deep tear trough with a crisp edge: those are structural tasks, and a cohesive hyaluronic acid filler or a calcium-based product placed with intent is the better-suited tool.
Nor are these skin-surface treatments. Pigment, acne scarring and pore texture belong to a different toolbox. And when the loss is mostly sagging rather than deflation, energy-based lifting is the honest answer, not more injected material. The FDA overview of soft tissue fillers is a reasonable starting point for how regulators frame the distinction between filling and stimulating.
How Juvelook Volume and Gouri fit a volume-loss plan
Most faces that arrive asking about either product are not losing volume in one place. There is a hollow, and there is a general thinning around it, and those two problems have different answers.
A practical sequence often looks like this: address the structural deficit first, then treat the surrounding panel for firmness, then reassess at the scan.
That ordering is why we will sometimes recommend a targeted PDLLA approach in one zone and a broader treatment elsewhere in the same face, rather than declaring one product the answer for everybody.
If your volume change followed a period of weight loss, the pattern is usually diffuse, which is covered in our guide to facial volume loss after weight loss.
For the product detail behind the PDLLA side, our longer piece on Juvelook Volume in Korean dermatology goes deeper than this comparison does, and the question of how sessions are quoted is handled in Juvelook Volume cost in Korea.
One note for anyone budgeting from abroad: since 1 January 2026 the VAT refund for foreign patients on cosmetic procedures no longer applies, so the quoted figure plus ten percent VAT is what you actually pay, with nothing to reclaim at the airport.
This article is general information, not a diagnosis. Individual results vary, and suitability for either product can only be decided in a face-to-face consultation with a licensed doctor who has examined your skin.
Ask Dr. Park a Question Before You Fly
Is Juvelook Skin the same as Juvelook Volume?
No. They are two formulations in the same family. The Skin version is aimed at texture and fine lines in the dermis, while the Volume version is formulated and placed for contour deficit. A consultation decides which one your concern belongs to.
Can Gouri and Juvelook Volume be combined?
They are sometimes used in the same overall plan but in different zones and usually at different visits, not mixed in one syringe. The doctor decides the sequence after examining where the loss is structural and where it is diffuse.
How soon will I see a difference?
Both are gradual. Juvelook Volume shows a small early change from its hyaluronic acid carrier that settles within the first weeks, and both products are judged months later rather than days later. Individual results vary.
